Order Status / New Tariffs
We will make sure to deliver every order and try to keep the US store operating. DCC-EX resellers outside the US are NOT affected and to some degree now have a competitive advantage over US Businesses.
The rules are constantly changing and we have no way to plan for what will or won't happen, but as of April 2, the US President has implemented the largest tax increase in US peacetime history. DCC-EX pays this tax, as well as the added US Customs fees, increased shipping costs, and brokerage fees in order to receive our products. Estimates show that the average American family will pay between $2300 and $4900 this year for these tariffs.
This is affecting every manufacturer and reseller in our hobby, most of whom have issued their own statements about rising prices and having to completely halt sales of certain products.
The tax we have to pay for goods we import was raised to 54%, then 125%, and then 145%!! Currently, we are paying a 60% tax on almost everything we need to purchase to manufacture our products. The exemption from tariffs for goods under $800 was also removed. All this despite it being unconstitutional to do so without a vote from congress. There will also be a minimum tax assessed, so that even if we need $20 worth of parts, we will have to pay over $80 in new taxes and fees. Obviously, that is untenable.
Even if we can afford to pay the taxes and fees on large orders, and still provide product to our users, we expect delays due to the load processing all these previously exempt packages will have on Customs and USPS. Shipping costs have skyrocketed due to the added paperwork required of shipping companies. In addition, most are implementing an added surcharge through December for the US holidays.
While not all tariffs are bad, in this instance, we feel this trade war unfairly affects all American businesses, but especially small business and US Shoppers. Many Etsy, eBay, and Amazon stores, have already been forced to close in the US. People who order from stores like AliExpress, Banggood, Temu, Shein, eBay, Etsy, Amazon, etc. will be affected and prices of everything, especially electronics, clothing, and cars are rising. Consumers are getting surprise bills for 2 or 3 times the price off the item they ordered if the item they ordered came from outside the US, sometimes thinking it was coming from inside the US.
Some people won't see the effects of this immediately, since this is a hidden tax that shows up as inflation and increased prices for the goods you buy. It can happen slowly over a few months. Additionally, many manufacturers ordered large quantities of goods to avoid paying the tax to US Customs, hoping that cooler heads would prevail and the tariff would be reduced in a few months. This has not happened. When this stock runs out, prices of most things will be increasing in time for the holidays and there will be issues with availability.
We intend to absorb some of this new tax, but we can't absorb all of that 60% plus all the added fees. And they can be changed on a whim with no notice. As has happened to us, we can order at one price and when the goods arrive, we have to pay a surprise tariff that was added a day before our raw materials arrived at US customs.
We will monitor things closely and promise to notify you if and when things change. This will not effect any of our resellers in countries outside the US who are able to continue business as usual. We truly appreciate your support and are sorry for the inconvenience this is causing.
When will I get my order?
Shipments will go out in order that they are received. If there are any delays because of the tariffs and shipping delays, we will post it on the main page.
Thank you sincerely for all your support!
